Holiday shopping at Jingle in the Junction
It’s an annual holiday event where stores in Valley Junction in West Des Moines are open late for shoppers along with several holiday activities.
For 2024, it’s scheduled for Nov 21, Nov 28, Dec 5, Dec 12, and Dec 19, 5pm to 8pm

Each week features some unique rotating activities such as Ice carvers or street performances by Cirque Wonderland Studios. There are also activities that are available on all Jingle in the Junction dates, such :
- Santa & Mrs. Claus making an appearance at Valley Junction Foundation Office next to the Theatrical Shop
- Free horse-drawn trolley rides, which start at Railroad Park
- 125,000 holiday lights on display throughout the 5th Street shopping area.
I’ve shopped in Valley Junction for years and I frequently stop in for lunches as well. It’s filled with lots of unique shops. In fact, when you see the slogan “Shop Local” – which perfectly describes Valley Junction.
Valley Junction has not only survived over time – it has thrived. In the ’70s, they took a hit when suburban malls came in. They also made a comeback after the historic floods in 1993.
