Free March Madness activities in Des Moines
March Madness is heading to Des Moines, Iowa this week as part of the first rounds of the Men’s NCAA basketball tournament are being played at Wells Fargo Arena.
Free Open Practice Day
On Wednesday, March 15th the arena is open to the public during team practices. Not only is admission free, but the parking is open and is also FREE! Concessions are open and available for sale during the practices. Here’s the practice schedule:
- 10:00 AM – Doors Open
- 11:00 – 11:40am – Howard
- 11:45am – 12:25pm – Illinois
- 12:30 – 1:10pm – Kansas
- 1:15 – 1:55pm – Arkansas
- 3:25 – 4:05pm – Texas
- 4:10 – 4:50pm – Texas A&M
- 4:55 – 5:35pm – Colgate
- 5:40 – 6:20pm – Penn State
Hoops & Hops
Another great free event is Hoops & Hops, which runs for three days at Cowles Commons. The event includes:
- Heated tents with large screen TVs
- Iowa Craft Beer Tent
- Two Basketball Courts
- Local Food Trucks
