Winterset’s Festival of Lights

Each year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, Winterset celebrates its Festival of Lights. Here’s a glimpse of what the typical schedule of events.
Location: 112 S. John Wayne Drive, Winterset, IA
Starting at 5pm: Activities including:
- Live and Lighted Window Displays
- Free horse-drawn wagon rides
- Extended shopping
- Roaming carolers
- Interactions with Santa

Starting at 7:15pm: The lighted Christmas parade
The parade follows a really simple path: it goes around the town square. Not just once, but it literally circles the courthouse over and over for about 35 to 45 minutes. This allows you to really take in each the floats, over and over – or it allows to move on to something else.

Starting at 8pm: The movie “Elf” at the Iowa Movie Theatre
Admission is free when you donate a non-perishable food item.
