A Christmas explosion at Exile Brewery

It’s called SnowGlobe Des Moines and it’s a literal explosion of Christmas. With over 100,000 lights and endless decorations, it’s meant to make you feel like you’re inside a snowglobe.

Will Farrell from Elf is all over the SnowGlobe Des Moines event being held at Exile Brewery, running through Dec 31st.

After seeing pictures of it online, I decided to make a reservation to see it for myself. My wife, my nephew, and my granddaughter were along for the visit. We had reservations and we were able to walk right in to get our table. They accept walk-ins, but we noticed the waiting line grew as early as 5 pm, so reservations are highly encouraged.

As soon as you enter their front door you’ll quickly understand just how much of a Christmas overload it’s going to be. Will Farrell (from Elf), Home Alone, little drummers, and endless other Christmas gear are everywhere. The walk to your table is very visual …. the ceilings are adorned with every possible Christmas ornament. Even though it’s promoted as being inside a snowglobe, at that moment it felt more like I was stuck inside a Christmas tree.

After ordering our meal, we left the table to head for the basement to see the photo op locations which are in the basement. They have a tall drummer boy, a few animatronic Santas and the most popular is a setting area with the quote from Home Alone – “Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal”

They are also running special events during this time, including ugly sweater night, Princess nights, and Brunch with Santa. SnowGlobe Des Moines runs through Dec 31st. Reservations can be made at https://www.exilebrewing.com/snowglobe

Tall drummers are located in the entrance, as well as this one in the basement.

The Christmas explosion is waiting for you!

Don’t forget to check out their great building mural located outside on the west-facing wall, created by artist Ben Schuh.
