If you’ve been planning a trip to Pella to see the tulips, you’re probably wondering the same thing a lot of people have been asking:
👉 Did the recent storms damage the flowers?
I had the same question… so I went to Pella this morning (April 19th, 2026) to see for myself.
The short answer?
They’re still looking really good.
What the Tulips Look Like Right Now
Across multiple areas in town, the tulips are still:
- Upright and healthy
- Full of color
- Blooming in large numbers
While you can always expect a few scattered petals or minor wear after a storm, the overall display is still in good shape.
Were the Tulips Damaged?
Like any spring flowers, tulips can be sensitive to wind and rain.
But based on what I saw today in Pella:
- Most beds are still in great shape
- The overall experience hasn’t changed much
Is It Still Worth Visiting?
Short answer: yes.
If you’ve been thinking about making the trip to Pella, the timing is still lining up really well.
You’ll still find:
- Bright, colorful tulip displays
- Scenic streets and gardens
- Plenty of photo opportunities
With peak bloom typically running from mid-April through mid-May, we’re right in that window leading up to Tulip Time.
Best Places I Checked
During this visit, I stopped at a few of the more popular tulip areas, including:
- Central Park and the Avenue of Tulips (which has lots a few varieties – either to the storm or are already past bloom
- Sunken Gardens
- Scholte House & Gardens
All of them were showing strong blooms and good overall conditions.

Spring in Pella is always a little unpredictable when it comes to weather.
But right now?
The tulips are holding strong.
