Iowa’s last remaining rocket slides
The first rocket slide in the US was built in Miami, Florida, in 1967, and it was so popular that thousands of communities called and asked to have one installed in their town. In 1971, Des Moines first opened its rocket slide, officially known as Miracle’s AstroCity, housed in Union Park.
Over time, many of the rocket slides were removed, and newer equipment was installed. However, here are some of the last remaining rocket slides in Iowa.
