When, where, and who to visit at Whoville, Iowa

If you love “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, then you’re in for a treat when you visit Whoville, located in Fairfield, Iowa. It’s straight out of the Dr. Seuss classic and is full of adventure, amazement, and lots of photo opportunities.

As you enter, you’ll have a chance to get a buzzer to hold your place in line to see Santa. This sign points you in the various directions where you can explore while you’re waiting for your time slot with Santa.

When is Whoville open?

Every Friday and Saturday night until Dec 22nd, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm

There are lots of photo ops in Whoville. All of the sets were created locally by co-owner Jim Huffman and his team.

What is the cost to get in?

It’s free! Yes, you heard correctly, it is free, although baked goods, hot cocoa add-ons, and toys are available for purchase.

The toy store features plush toys from Whoville that are available for purchase.

What’s free in Whoville?

Not only is admission free, but so are the following items (thanks to JC Huffman Cabinetry)

  • Visit with Santa (ask for a buzzer when you enter, they will buzz you when your meet time is ready)
  • Get a free printed photo with Santa
  • Take your free printed photo with Santa and create a free ornament with the photo!
  • Free hot cocoa
  • Visit the Grinch in his lair and get your photo taken
  • Photo ops on a sleigh, in front of Christmas trees, or in other sections of Whoville.

Mrs. Claus and her helper have baked goods and candies for sale. I got the chocolate-covered toffee with sea salt, yummy!

Who built Whoville?

The sets were primarily built by Jim Huffman, with help from his employees. Jim and Teresa Huffman are the owners of JC Huffman Cabinetry and are the masterminds who brought Whoville to Fairfield. The company that owns the rights to Whoville has toys for sale on-site, but the sets themselves were made in Fairfield by Jim and his team.
